罗发辉的大花,让我想起美国女权艺术家奥葵弗的花,奥葵弗的花有性的意象,罗发辉的花也有性的意象。
只是奥葵弗作为女性主义艺术家,她的花有一种张扬的美丽;
   
罗发辉的花,给人一种虚假的感觉,无论花是他潜意识中的性,或者女性,或者美丽,对于罗发辉自己可能更多体验的是虚假。
  
我第一次看到他的花的时候,花大到两米左右,铅灰的色彩,象铁,有一种沉重和冷冰冰的感觉。这时花不再是现实的花,而成为他心中的意象,性是温暖的激情,女性是美丽和娇柔,但是对于罗发辉可能是坚硬的,冷冰冰的,难以接近的。

近期的罗发辉的花在发生一些变化,铅灰的色彩越来越透明,花的体积感觉越来越富有弹性,象塑料或者硅胶,象肿胀或者充满水分的恫体,也象初生娇嫩的胚胎,有点粘乎乎和湿润,性的感觉越来越突出。是罗发辉的内心在发生变化,还是对性的体验越来越真切,或者越来越眷恋温柔乡,进入佳境,体会它的温润、潮湿和粘乎乎的感觉。同时,在透明的花体上偶然出现的类似溃烂的红色斑点,是体会温润过之后的一点点糜烂的感觉?还是对于美丽的质疑。

我最近喜欢引用鲁迅先生的“溃烂之处,艳若桃李”。只是在罗发辉的花中,我更多感觉到的是温润,娇嫩,和粘乎乎和一点点糜烂的性的感觉。

The huge flowers of Luo Fahui remind me of the flowers of Georgia O’Keeffee, the American feminist artist. Her flowers have sexual connotations, and so do Luo Fahui’s. As a feminist artist, O’Keefee gives her flowers the beauty of pride and bravery, while Luo Fahui gives them a sense of falsity. To Luo Fahui, he may have experienced falsity no matter in his subconsciousness, flowers are sex, or women, or beauty. The first time I saw his flowers, they were as big as around two meters, as gray as lead and iron, seemingly heavy and cold. The flowers were no more flowers in reality, but the image inside Luo Fahui. Sex is warm and passionate, and women are beautiful and tender. However, to Luo Fahui, they were both hard, cold and unattainable.

There are some changes in Luo Fahui’s recent flowers. The color of gray turns more and more transparent, and the volume of the flowers turns more and more expandable. They look like plastic or silica gel bodies, swelling and water-filled. Like newly-born embryo, they are sticky and wet, obtaining more and more sexual connotations. I wonder if it is because Luo Fahui has experienced inner changes, or he has had keener sexual experiences, or he is just more and more indulged in the dream, pondering over the wet and sticky tenderness. Meanwhile, some red spots, as if ulcerated, appear on the transparent petals. Is that the rotten feeling after wetness? Or is it his question to beauty? Recently, I often quote Mr. Lu Xu’s “where ulcerated, it is as gorgeous as peach flowers”. However, in Luo Fahui’s flowers, I find more wet tenderness and sticky, festering sex.
